Mary Susan Davies, Esq

Mary Susan Davies is graduated from Presbyterian College with a B.S. in Political Science. She received her J.D. from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Davies is admitted to practice law in the following jurisdictions:

Ms. Davies formerly served as the Waste Enforcement Manager for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Environmental Quality. In that capacity she coordinated enforcement actions state-wide in the areas of solid and hazardous waste disposal under the Virginia Solid Waste Act and of technical compliance of underground storage tanks under the state Water Control Act.

Before working for Virginia DEQ, Ms. Davies was as an Assistant Counsel for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection. There she litigated before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board, the Court of Common Pleas, Commonwealth Court and the Supreme Court.

Ms. Davies represented Pennsylvania DEP in a various practice areas, including litigation; negotiations for cost recovery and environmental cleanups under Superfund and the state Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act; administrative appeals before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board; enforcement proceedings before the Courts of Common Pleas and Commonwealth Court; Eminent Domain proceedings; proceedings to establish claims before Bankruptcy Court; and appeals of administrative decisions before the Commonwealth Court and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Additionally, Ms. Davies counseled the agency in a variety of environmental media, including, underground storage tank technical compliance; cost recovery under Superfund (CERCLA); environmental property assessments (Phase I and Phase II) and cleanups; Brownfield transactions; solid and hazardous waste disposal; landfill permitting and compliance; Oil and gas permitting and compliance; NPDES permitting and compliance; Wetlands; Emergency Management; and small business assistance outreach.

Before serving in government, Ms. Davies practiced in the area of bankruptcy law; creditor’s rights; foreclosures; landlord/tenant; uncontested divorce; and small business transactions.
